Tapiei based DigiTimes is reporting that Gemtek Technology, which produces the wireless modules used in the Wii console amongst other wireless technologies, will soon start shipping a Wii branded WLAN router. It's expected that shipments of these new WLAN routers will hit 50,000 a month in the second half of 2007.
If true, Nintendo would most likely sell these under its own name, given that they're using the Wii brand and Nintendo is a big customer of Gemtek. While DigiTimes cites no specific source, they're reported on console-related hardware developments a number of times with surprising accuracy, so it's hard not to take the report seriously.
