As you’d expect during last week’s E3, the Wii Balance Board shown with Wii Fit came up as a topic of conversation more than a few times. One thing everyone seemed to want to know about was the price, though unfortunately Nintendo wasn’t ready to address that just yet. At the time, all that could be wheedled out of the Big N was that it would certainly be more than a mere $50 game. However, that hasn’t stopped retailers from taking a shot at it, and listings are already popping up online.
Whether they are relying on some sort of inside information or merely taking a wild guess we don’t know, but the GameStop Empire (which includes EB Games and other such outlets) currently has Wii Fit listed for $69.99 on their site. While my own guess was closer to $80, this listing could in fact be closer to the actual price, as Nintendo doesn’t want to alienate potential customers on a system that’s made a name for itself by being cheap (among other things).
Of course, with the launch of Wii Fit and the Balance Board still some time away (it is expected in Japan by the end of the year, and sometime early next year in the U.S.), Nintendo has plenty of time to decide on it. We will continue to follow this story and if we learn anything more, you’ll see it right here. So, be sure to check back at VGGEN often!
