Clever cross-marketing there Nintendo...
According to the latest update on Smash Bros. DOJO!!, the official website for the franchise, Super Smash Bros. Brawl will have a Masterpieces section that features timed demos of some of the greatest Wii Virtual Console titles to date. These demos will be of games featuring the contestants in Brawl itself, and some of the titles already confirmed include:
- Ice Climber (NES)
- Super Mario Bros. (NES)
- The Legend of Zelda (NES)
- Kid Icarus (NES)
- Kirby's Adventure (NES)
- Super Metroid (SNES)
- Star Fox 64 (N64)
The site also hints at other titles hiding in the Masterpieces section, just waiting to be discovered by enterprising fans. Since these demos will be on the game disc, players will be able to play them offline without an internet connection. Of course, Nintendo is no doubt hoping that many people will go online and purchase some of these titles after trying them out in Brawl.
Could this also be a sign that demos for classic games will finally hit the Wii Shop Channel itself soon?
